How to Use Pinterest Blog Traffic to Grow Your Blog

It’s easy for anyone to start a blog these days.

But once you’ve put your blog out there, one common question arises: How can I increase my blog traffic?

One great solution? Pinterest blog traffic!

But how exactly does it work?

Typically, when someone starts a blog, they focus on SEO to boost their blog traffic.

While learning and implementing SEO is essential for long-term success, it takes time.

However, using Pinterest can significantly help attract visitors to your blog.

Believe it or not – it won’t cost you anything!

1. Optimize Your Pinterest Profile

First, if you want to use Pinterest as a source of traffic for your blog, you need to change your personal Pinterest account into a business account.

Simply click on the Menu icon (three dots) at the top left corner and select “Add a free business profile.”

Then fill in all the necessary details by giving your profile a name and providing related information.

Alternatively, you can directly visit pinterest.com/business/create to get started with setting up your business account for free.

  • Choose Your Name: On Pinterest, you’ll need two names – your profile name and username. I used my blog’s name as my default username while using something different for my profile name. This helps people understand what my Pinterest is about which can increase followers too.
  • Profile Bio: Give a brief introduction of your blog on Pinterest using some keywords in the bio.
  • Claim Your Blog: It’s important to claim ownership of your blog so that it gets verified with Analytics for content pinned from it onto Pinterest. Follow this simple guide – an essential step, especially for bloggers!

2. Make Boards on Pinterest Related to Your Blog

You can create Pinterest boards that are related to your blog content. This will help you attract more visitors to your website and expand your audience.

To create Pinterest boards for your blog, first, pick an appealing name for the board.

Create a Pinterest board

Then, decide on the type of content you want to add to the board.

For example, if you run a cooking blog, you could create a board named “Recipes” and pin all of your recipes there.

Once the board is set up, start adding content from your blog onto it.

Remember to include a link back to your blog in each pin so that people can easily visit the site. You also have the option of making these boards group boards which allows other bloggers contribute pins as well.

3. Create Pins That Attract Traffic on Pinterest

There are lots of different pins available on Pinterest.

If you make a pin about chicken recipes, check out all the recipe options on Pinterest – there’s so much to see!

So, your pin needs to stand out and be eye-catching in order to get more clicks to your blog.

Best performing Pinterest pin

I typically use Canva for easily creating Pinterest pins, which is completely free.

With Canva, you can also directly post to Pinterest but this feature isn’t free; however, it’s a worthwhile investment if you plan to generate income from it.

To drive more traffic from Pinterest, try creating new 2-4 pins every day.

Experiment with different styles and colors until you find what works best for you.

Regularly monitoring your analytics will provide valuable insights into which types of content perform well so that you can refine your strategy accordingly.

Feel free to try my Canva templates, they’re completely free and designed specifically to save time when creating pins!

In addition, consider using Tailwind — another fantastic tool tailored towards crafting and publishing Pins that comes equipped with features geared towards maximizing results on Pinterest.

4. Use Rich Pins for Better Engagement

Rich pins help users decide whether to click on your pin for more information about a product, article, or recipe from your blog.

In simple terms, Rich Pins are pins that automatically gather details from your website.

There are different types of rich pins:

  • Recipe Rich Pins provide title, serving size, cook time, and ratings for recipes saved from your site.
  • Article Rich Pins include headline/title and author information of articles or blog posts from your site.
  • Product Rich Pins display current pricing and availability info right on the Pin.

The best part is that if anything changes on the original site (your blog), the rich Pin will update accordingly to show those changes.

You can learn how to apply for these awesome features by checking out this guide.

5. Add Share Buttons to Your Blog Posts

You can use a share button to let visitors save images from your blog directly to Pinterest. When someone saves an image, it can easily bring other Pinterest users to your blog.

If you’re using WordPress, Jetpack Social provides all the necessary tools for adding social sharing buttons to your blog.

6. Ensure Your Blog is Mobile-Friendly

Most of the traffic from Pinterest globally comes through mobile devices, so it’s important to ensure that your blog is compatible with all types of devices.

If your blog isn’t responsive on mobile, users are likely to leave.

The Astra WordPress Theme stands out as one of the best themes for WordPress in my experience.

It’s free and can be installed and used on any WordPress site, providing great performance and customization choices.

And the best part? You won’t need any coding skills!

7. Join Group Boards for Increased Pinterest Traffic

You can increase the visibility of your pins on Pinterest by joining group boards, which are shared by multiple bloggers and users.

Each member has the ability to add or save new pins to the board. Group boards are an effective way to drive more traffic to your blog.

To find relevant group boards, you can easily use tools like pingroupie.com.
