What You Need to Know About Pinterest Hashtags

Hashtags are used in social media like on Twitter and Instagram, and it’s not a new thing for internet users. Now, Pinterest and almost every social platform and they promoting hashtags.

The question is, is it worth using Pinterest hashtags to get more impressions and repins on your Pinterest Pins.

In this article, I’m going to give you a simple guide for hashtags on Pinterest to help you in getting more impressions and repins and more traffic for your blog!

What are Hashtags?

A hashtag is a word or phrase started by a hash (#), you can identify them as clickable text in bold blue color.

When you’re going to using hashtags on Pinterest, it can be used to identify your Pins on a specific topic.

Using Hashtags on Pinterest

Once you put a hashtag on a description of a new Pin, it’s possible to click that and find other pins those who tagged on the same hashtag. It works on Pinterest just like they do anywhere else on other social media platforms.

Pinterest Hashtags

You can use these Pinterest hashtags in two ways,

  1. Searching for a hashtag like #blogtips
  2. Clicking a hashtag from a Pinterest Pin description

However, Always the newest Pins will be right up top. So, that is the way how Pinterest hashtags are possible to use.

Using Pinterest Hashtags to Increase Pin Discovery

The main purpose of using Hashtags on Pinterest is having another way to get your pins seen by another new audience. That means if you’re using the relevant hashtags on your Pins, you can simply reach into more audience.

The main thing is the relevancy!

Pinterest says, “When inserting a hashtag, we recommend you be specific and descriptive. Use words or phrases that describe the content in the Pin – we recommend you add no more than 20 hashtags per Pin. It’s best to be objective and use hashtags that make sense and are relevant to the Pin.”

However, I use no more than 3 or 4 hashtags per pin. Because you can only place 500 characters on your pin description and the first 50-60 characters are most likely to show up in people’s feeds first.

Simply, always put your most important facts on description first, and never overuse hashtags.

Placing Pinterest Hashtags

Personally, I’m placing hashtags at the end of my Pin descriptions. Always use the Pinterest search and see the suggestions they will provide for your search term.

Pinterest Keywords

When you search for “blogging” on Pinterest, it will show you the highly popular searched terms. These terms are keywords you can use on your Pins.

When you clicked on these each term, it will show up more suggestions coming up with that each term. So, you can simply use those terms to find the related keywords, hashtags and write a catchy title, description, and put the hashtags at the end of the description.

That’s all!

But, don’t quit your work from here!

You can do research on Pinterest to find the best and most relevant to use on your pins. On the other way can use tools like hashtagify.me to get brief ideas and relevant hashtags ideas for better results.
