It saves me a ton of time! 😀

On any above categories or what your audience’s needs are, you can create graphics or templates.

How Much You Can Earn By Selling Canva Templates?

The first thing is you have to understand what people really need, Which means you have to do simple research on social media sites like Facebook to understand their needs.

Once you got an idea, decide how to sell the right things to the right people. On the other hand, you have to decide how to price your product and where to promote and to sell them like using your own blog.

It’s really valuable starting a new blog to grab the audience by sharing your thoughts. And it will make a good place to sell your own products.

Honestly, depending on the above factors I have mentioned, your earning will depend. Simply, if you have a huge audience, you can promote your templates to them to gain more sales! But, if you really don’t have any way to target an audience, it may really difficult to make enough money.

That’s not completely about designing, it about thinking. Canva will provide tons of graphical things for you, but you need to use them in the right way for the right thing.

First, if you have never used Canva before, you have to sign up for a new Canva PRO 30-day free trial account.

Selling Your Designs as Canva Templates

Just remember this, always make sure that your templates are unique and created from scratch by you. You can’t sell templates provided by Canva. Simply, create and sell your own templates!

Before you sell, you have to make your final designs shareable with your buyers, which means you have to create a way to give it your buyers. So, you can use Canva “Share” feature to do this.

To be able to use this feature, you’ll need to be a Canva PRO user! The 30-day free trial will unlock these features for 30-days.

Selling Canva Images

Once you’re done designing, Just follow these steps to get the shareable template link to sell your Canva templates to your buyers,

  1. Click Share above the Canva editor.
  2. Select “Share with others”.
  3. Click the ᐯ icon from the button of the menu.
  4. Select “Use as a template option”.
  5. Click “Copy link” to copy the share link for your template.

That’s all! Once you get the sharable link, you can create a PDF that will contain the shareable template link. You can use Canva to create that PDF file also.

Why a PDF?

A PDF is easy to deliverable so that when someone buys it, they receive this PDF and they can then access your templates through it.

Pretty cool? right! 😉

However, remember that this template sharing feature is only available with Canva PRO. But, if you have not added any premium Canva graphic on your templates, a paid subscription is not required for your customers to use your design as a template.

  1. I like the idea! I’d be interested if it’s a good side gig? i.e can you make much money creating templates?
Also, is Etsy the best place to do it? I’m not sure if people will be going to Etsy to find Pinterest templates. But then again I can’t think of a better place.

    1. Hi Nick, as I mentioned above, we have to promote whatever thing we sell. Nothing happens if no one knows what we created. So, That’s why I was mentioned about starting a blog. That is one of a suggestion and that is the reason to mention why earning will depend. We definitely have to promote it! And social media is another way!

Etsy is a good place for handmade items, arts, and working for digital products too. Etsy search will drive some of the sales if you’re using a good description for your products.

Also when you go through my Etsy guide, I have already mentioned some other ways to promote Etsy products. My opinion is we have to promote and tell people what we are doing. Etsy is a place to sell, a blog is a place to promote!

  2. Very interesting! Never thought of that as an income stream, even if I use Canva aaaalll the time. How much is an average price for a template?

  3. I have a doubt about pro membership. Can I sell templates after ending my pro membership?
    (Created before pro membership expires)
Sorry for my bad English. My first language is not English. I hope you understand my question.

This would be great help to me.
    Hoping for acting upon request.
    Keep growing 😀
    Thank you!

    1. Hi Priyanka,

‌Glad to hear that and thanks for your feedback. I’ve already published a guide for how to start a blog. The main thing is I’m trying to simplify all the guides without making it complicated to my readers. Because I can’t assume that everyone is tech-savvy.

In fact, still, I’m growing and I hope to provide more guides in the future. As for your valuable request, I definitely have to do it step-by-step. 🙂
